Pirates Are Responsible for Volvo Ocean Race Route Change

Maybe you've previously read about the Volvo Ocean Race scheduled to take place between late October 2011 and July 2012. Contrary to what you might expect given Volvo is a Swedish automaker, it has nothing to do with cars. Rather, it's the world's ultimate offshore sailing competition, dating back to 1973 when it was known as the Whitbread Round the World Race. This year the Volvo Ocean Race will start in Alicante, Spain. Thirty-nine-thousand miles later, it will commence in Galway Ireland.

Volvo's interest in sailing isn't new, either. The Volvo Ocean Race, the world…

Volvo Posts 26 Percent Increase in Profits for Q2 2011

More and more people are turning to Volvo for their automotive needs, and at McKevitt Volvo, we're quite thrilled with the results. Specifically, the Swedish automaker has recently reported 26.6 percent increase in sales, and a profit of 600-million Swedish Kronor ($94-million).

"The S60 T6 already boasts excellent performance credentials and the S60 Performance Project takes that even further," said Volvo Car Australia Managing Director Matt Braid. "With the extra power, torque and unique wheels and…

Two Volvo Employees Honored by NHTSA

Safety has always been a strong suite in all Volvo models - from the V50 wagon to the S40 sedan. There is proof of this not only in the numerous safety awards from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), but also in the ample praise from consumers, such as yourself.

The Scandinavian automaker has, in part, Thomas Broberg and Erik Coelingh, to thank for the unparalleled safety of Volvo cars, coupes, wagons, and crossovers. Each…
